Job summary

Civil Rights Division seeks an experienced attorney to serve as the Director, Criminal Section. The role leads the Section, setting national priorities for federal civil rights prosecutions and supervising managers, trial attorneys, and support staff.

The Director will oversee investigations, case preparation, and trial strategy, and will regularly coordinate with DOJ leadership, law enforcement partners, and United States Attorneys' Offices.

Qualifications

• J.D. required and active bar membership in a U.S. state, DC, or Puerto Rico.
• Proven leadership of large teams and complex operations.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with federal, state, local, and international partners.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Criminal Section, setting national policy for civil rights prosecutions.
• Supervise case strategy, investigations, indictments, and trials; oversee grand jury presentations when needed.
• Coordinate with Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and other senior leaders; liaise with law enforcement and agencies.
• Provide guidance to U.S. Attorneys and other stakeholders; manage resources and staff efficiency.
