DRMP is seeking a Chief Bridge/Structures Engineer, P.E., to lead complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects. This role requires deep experience in bridge design and rehabilitation, plus strong leadership to shape a growing practice.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer.
• Extensive bridge design and rehabilitation experience.
• Strong leadership and project-management skills.
• Experience with DOT projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and client-relations abilities.
• Proficiency with industry software for bridge design.

Responsibilities

• Lead Structures projects as Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead.
• Direct bridge design and plans production for transportation structures.
• Perform data analysis, calculations, and evaluate alternate solutions.
• Prepare structural calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews of technical work to meet criteria.
• Lead marketing efforts for bridge pursuits and client interviews.
• Support construction phase with RFI responses and shop drawing reviews.
• Mentor and train junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Structures Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead on multi-disciplined transportation projects using both conventional and alternative delivery methods
• Serve as Technical Structures Design Lead for all aspects of bridge design and plans preparation
• Direct engineering alternatives investigations through the collection and analysis of data, performing calculations, and evaluation of alternate solutions
• Direct planning, design and production of structural calculations, written reports, engineering drawings, and specifications for projects related to bridge and transportation structures
• Perform technical reviews (QA/QC) of structural calculations, written reports, engineering drawings, and specifications ensuring appropriate design criteria, procedures and guidelines are followed
• Lead marketing efforts for bridge project pursuits including FDOT Letters of Response, Presentations and Technical Interviews
• Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFI’s, review of shop drawings, problem solving, etc.
• Train and mentor junior engineers

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelors of Science from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer
• Complex structures design is a plus
• 15+ years post registration structural engineering experience
• 20+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience, which may include reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation‑related structures
• Experience using a variety of bridge design software that may include FB Multi‑Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets
• Proficiency in Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms to produce transportation structure designs and plans
• Ability to do 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus
• Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
• Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small- to large-scale multi-discipline bridge projects of varying technical complexity
• Construction specialty engineering experience is a plusExperience with post-tensioning applications is a plus
• Experience with straddle bent design is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
• Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
• Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering
• PE and/or SE certification in Florida or the ability to obtain Florida Registration
• Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of the FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications
