Job summary

Modo Energy seeks a US market intelligence leader to be the public face of US battery storage and power market analysis. You will translate data into credible narratives, publish weekly insights, and shape the industry’s reference point for the US market.

Based in New York, you will collaborate with Americas analysts and the marketing team, growing the US research function as it scales and representing Modo at key industry events.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years working in or on US power markets with real depth in battery storage.
• Fluency in at least two ISO/RTO markets, including market design, ancillary services, and revenue dynamics.
• A public track record. Include links to talks you've given and analyses you've published.
• Proven ability to turn complex data into narrative that non-experts repeat.
• A polished, confident communicator on stage, on camera, and on the page.
• Based in (or relocating to) New York.

Responsibilities

• Publish weekly analysis on US battery storage and power markets across major ISO/RTOs; own a flagship newsletter on the Modo platform.
• Represent Modo at 12+ industry events in year one and deliver memorable talks.
• Front US video, podcast, and webinar output with in-house production support.
• Join strategic customer conversations to generate measurable demand and credibility.
• Collaborate daily with Americas research analysts to ground content in Modo data; grow US research visibility.

We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.

The role

The US is the biggest battery storage story in the world. We're hiring the person who tells it.

You will be the public face of Modo Energy's US market intelligence. You'll turn our data into the analysis the industry reads, quotes, and books onto stages. Think of the role the way Zillow thinks of its Chief Economist: a technically credible voice, backed by a research platform, who becomes the reference point for an entire market.

You'll join our marketing team in New York and report to our Director of Marketing. You'll work hand-in-glove with our Americas research analysts through a formal dotted line into the research team, and with our in-house media and design teams. This is a build role. You'll start as the voice and grow the US market intelligence function as it scales.

What you'll own

• The narrative. Publish weekly analysis on US battery storage and power markets across the major ISOs/RTOs. Own a flagship newsletter on the Modo platform. Set the agenda, don't follow it.
• The stage. Represent Modo at 12+ industry events in year one: RE+, ACP conferences, ISO market summits and stakeholder forums, customer workshops. Deliver talks people remember.
• The screen. Front our US video, podcast, and webinar output alongside our in-house production team. Become the person journalists call for a storage quote.
• The pipeline. Join strategic customer conversations as the credibility in the room. Your content should generate demand we can measure.
• The team. Work daily with our Americas research analysts (dotted line into the research team) to ground every piece in Modo data. Your job is to make Modo's US research famous, not just yourself.

What we're looking for

The essentials:

• 5–8 years working in or on US power markets, with real depth in battery storage

• Proven ability to turn complex data into narrative that non-experts repeat

Nice to have:

• An existing industry following (LinkedIn, newsletter, podcast)
• Python or SQL literacy: enough to work credibly alongside our analysts
• Experience at a market research house, IPP, optimizer, developer, or trading desk

• Base salary range: $200,000–$300,000 per year, depending on experience
• The salary range listed reflects industry benchmarks for this role. Modo Energy's policy is to pay top of personal market - if you're exceptional, we'll make it work
