Job summary

University of Rochester Medicine seeks a senior leader to own the AI & Automation portfolio, translating strategy into executable governance and architectural plans. You will drive data integration, vendor coordination, and cross-functional engagement across clinical, operational, ISD, security, and governance teams.

You will oversee data readiness, establish enterprise standards, and report portfolio performance to governance bodies, guiding investments and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Biomedical Informatics, or related field.
• 8 years of progressive experience in technical architecture, systems integration, technology portfolio management, or a related field including healthcare IT.
• AI or digital health experience required.
• Master's degree and 2 years’ leadership or senior individual contributor role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establishes enterprise governance processes for prioritization, intake, oversight, and lifecycle of the AI portfolio.
• Researches and analyzes data to recommend AI investment priorities based on strategic value and ROI.
• Meets with teams across UR Medicine to inventory AI tool usage.
• Maintains inventory of AI tools, initiatives, and vendor relationships across UR Medicine.
• Identifies conflicts, redundancies, and gaps in AI portfolio, recommending portfolio adjustments.
• Tracks adoption, usage, and performance data for AI initiatives.
• Develops a standardized assessment process for AI initiatives’ performance and maintenance.
• Produces portfolio reporting for governance committees.
• Coordinates with Project Manager and Business Analysts to maintain reporting cadences.
• Presents portfolio recommendations to executive governance committees.
• Leads data acquisition and integration to enable AI initiatives across UR Medicine.
• Partners with clinical, operational, analytics, and IT teams to identify data dependencies and governance requirements.
• Serves as liaison with IT for data-related requests and access provisioning.
• Ensures AI initiatives meet data privacy, security, and governance requirements.
