University of Michigan’s Michigan Medicine seeks a Chief Academic & Research Information Officer (CARIO) to lead strategy, design, and enablement of informatics, digital, and technology for research, education, and academic operations.

The CARIO reports to the CDIO and aligns academic priorities with enterprise digital capabilities, driving innovation in medical education and learning health systems across the enterprise.

Competenze

• 15+ years of experience in research informatics, data, or technology leadership within academic medicine or complex research environments.
• 7+ years of executive or senior leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated success enabling research platforms, informatics systems, and large-scale research initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of research compliance, regulatory frameworks, and data governance.

Mansioni

• Define and execute a comprehensive academic and research informatics strategy aligned with Michigan Medicine's mission.
• Lead strategy for research platforms, systems, and data enablement (CTMS, IRB, REDCap).
• Oversee EHR-enabled research, embedded clinical trials, and research workflows.
• Serve as primary executive relationship leader for research faculty and Medical School stakeholders.
• Governance for research informatics, systems, workflows, and compliance with HIPAA, IRB, and data use agreements.
