Job summary

Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY seeks a Vice Provost for Academic Excellence to provide strategic leadership for academic quality, faculty affairs, and First and Second Year Experience initiatives. This senior role reports to the Provost and advances a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and engagement.

The Vice Provost partners with the Provost to align academic priorities, guide policy, and ensure data-informed decision making across the university.

Qualifications

• PhD or EdD from an accredited university and progressive leadership experience.
• Record of scholarly achievement, grants, or service in higher education.
• Ability to develop a vision for academic excellence and implement it within planning processes.
• Experience leading complex academic organizations and managing multiple priorities.
• Experience in teaching, research, and service in a university setting.
• Experience with Title III proposals and related activities.
• Knowledge of international employment visa processes.
• Experience in promoting faculty development, promotions and tenure.
• Experience managing university-wide committees and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level administrative and strategic support in the Office of the Provost.
• Oversee faculty affairs, academic policy, and First and Second Year Experience programs.
• Lead recruitment, retention, promotion, tenure processes, and faculty development.
• Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with institutional goals; ensure accreditation compliance.
• Coordinate budgeting, resource allocation, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
• Collaborate with Student Affairs to align academic priorities with student success.
