Job summary

Phelps Health is seeking a Chemo Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. The role involves IV compounding, accurate safety checks, inventory maintenance, and ensuring USP 797/800 compliance.

You will restock IV room carts, assist with dispensing, answer calls, and complete annual education requirements. A high school diploma and PTCB certification are required; sterile compounding experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Compounds IVs accurately.
• Performs all safety checks when compounding IVs.
• Re-stocks IV Room carts appropriately.
• Maintains IV room clean and stocked; restocks and orders supplies as needed.
• Fills automated dispensing cabinets with safety checks; completes restock reports with high accuracy.
• Follows and documents cleaning procedures for Ante and Clean Rooms monthly.
• Maintains inventory by placing daily orders and reviewing invoices; assist pharmacist with back-orders.
• Completes all annual mandatory education required by facility.

General Summary

• The Chemo Pharmacy Technician will compound IVs, answer phone calls, maintain inventory, and complete all requirements for USP 797 and USP 800.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Compounds IVs accurately.
• Performs all safety checks (Appropriate labeling, visually inspect) when compounding IVs.
• Re-stocks IV Room carts appropriately.
• Maintains IV room in a clean, organized manner and ensures supplies are restocked and ordered as needed.
• Fills automated dispensing cabinets correctly by performing all safety checks (barcode scans and visual inspection) during restock process, clears return bins on a daily basis, and fills out restock reports with 99.8% accuracy.
• Follows and documents all cleaning procedures for the Ante and Clean Rooms on a daily basis. Completes the monthly clean before the last day of each month.
• Maintains inventory by placing daily orders, checking in the orders and managing the invoices. Reviews invoices for any back-ordered medications or supplies and assists the pharmacist in managing the back-order list.
• Completes all annual mandatory education required by facility.

Education

• Graduate of high school or equivalent required.

Work Experience

• One year Sterile Compounding preferred. Chemotherapy Compounding preferred.

Certification/License

• Will be required to register or apply for Pharmacy registration after interview prior to start date. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

• Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time on variable operations. Physical requirements of standing, walking, sitting, and lifting (35 lbs.) will be necessary
