Qualifications

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$36.70 - $45.88 / hour

Summary

Responsible for overseeing the technical and regulatory functions related to Chemistry testing at the Regional Laboratory. Coordinates activities of the technical staff in the Chemistry department and allocates available resources to ensure efficient and effective operations. Works closely with the Clinical Laboratory Manager and laboratory leadership team in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Chemistry testing. Develops and coordinates training programs and ensures competence of staff. Develops and implements quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of equipment, and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Monitors quality control and quality indicators. Acts as a technical resource for laboratory and nursing staff for Chemistry testing. Identifies opportunities for performance improvement and cost containment. Performs clinical laboratory testing for all patient types in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. Promotes excellent customer service and interacts courteously with providers, nurses, and other customers as a representative of the laboratory.

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related science required.

Experience: Minimum of two years' bench experience in Chemistry, in a clinical laboratory setting, required.

Certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification, or equivalent from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) required.

License: State of Florida Department of Health, Clinical Laboratory Supervisor required.

Other: Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates and promotes teamwork, cooperation, and excellent customer service skills. Requires strong analytical skills, good time management skills, and the ability to solve problems.
