Job summary

West Virginia University’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a Temporary Academic Lab Manager to organize and supervise day-to-day operations of teaching laboratories in the C. Eugene Bennett Department of Chemistry.

Under supervision, the incumbent will support faculty in developing and testing new experiments, manage prep facilities, ensure safety, and coordinate supplies, equipment, and demonstrations for undergraduate courses and lab sessions in Morgantown.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science field.
• Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
• Candidates must meet all qualifications by employment start.

Responsibilities

• Prepare chemicals, solutions, and materials for laboratories and demonstrations.
• Manage areas of Chemistry Prep Facilities and ensure consistent operation of teaching labs.
• Assist in development and testing of new teaching lab experiments.
• Oversee storage, labeling, safety, and inventory of chemicals and supplies.
• Coordinate equipment, glassware, and supplies; support TA labs and demonstrations.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety practices in lab areas.
• Train and supervise student workers and coordinate with faculty and staff.
