Job Overview

St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH is seeking a full‑time Chemistry/Physics Teacher for grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will include sections of Chemistry, Physics, and/or Physical Science.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a strong subject background, teaching experience, and a solid understanding of high school curriculum in Chemistry and Physics.
  • Share a vision for integrating STEM education and fostering scientific inquiry in the classroom.
  • Bring enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the classroom setting through a variety of teaching and learning practices, including laboratory‑based instruction.
  • Connect positively with both students and families.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Explore collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching relationships with colleagues.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, or a related field is required, with a master’s degree preferred.
  • High school teaching experience is preferred.
  • Possession of New Hampshire state certification in the appropriate subject area(s) and/or the ability to work toward state certification.

Job Summary and Expectations:

Under the supervision of the Principal and Department Chair, the Teacher:

  • Assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the classes they are assigned.
  • Strives to achieve the goals of the St. Thomas Aquinas Mission Statement, the Catholic faith, and values.
  • Develops and implements a daily instructional program according to the needs of the students and the established curriculum.
  • Prepares and supervises safe, engaging laboratory experiences that reinforce scientific concepts and develop critical thinking skills.
  • Recognizes and incorporates the rich diversity of the students in the classroom and their unique talents to foster a culture of belonging.
  • Maintains accurate records of attendance, scholastic achievement, etc. as required by the school, diocese, and state.
  • Builds a positive classroom culture and contributes to a welcoming school community rooted in mutual respect, collaboration, and shared purpose.
  • Commits to ongoing professional learning and growth.
