Job summary

San Diego State University-Imperial Valley is hiring for a full-time 12-month Chemistry Teaching and Laboratory Instrumentation Support Specialist, lecturer position. The role covers year-round lab management and undergraduate/graduate teaching assignments to meet departmental needs.

Responsibilities include teaching analytical and organic chemistry, operating and maintaining instruments (GC-MS, AA, ICP, XRD), and procuring materials. Collaboration with industry partners is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Chemistry or related field (PhD preferred).
• University teaching experience.
• Demonstrated currency in subject matter.
• Demonstrated instrument/facility management experience.
• Familiarity with lithium and renewable energy research.

Responsibilities

• Teach analytical and organic chemistry lecturer and lab courses.
• Operate and maintain equipment and train students in analytical instruments.
• Initiate procurement of research and teaching materials, supplies and instrumentation.
• Support grant seeking initiatives.
• Manage 15-unit workload year-round.
