Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, supervise staff, collect data, and prepare reports on special projects. You will monitor quality service levels across shifts, ensure accreditation compliance, and handle administrative and financial transactions.

Responsibilities include scheduling, guiding staff, resolving complex issues, reviewing results, and maintaining licensure and equipment inventories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in science; clinical laboratory experience required.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license issued by DOH/Office of Professions required.
• ASCP Certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the work and daily operations of Laboratory employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
• Provides Quality Control Measures for test procedures; reviews and documents results; implements corrective action(s) when tolerance limits are exceeded.
• Prepares work schedule, assigns and prioritizes work to staff, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
• Guides staff in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
• Recruit, interview, select employees and provide effective recommendation for hiring; evaluates competency and performance of personnel.
• Advises and orients staff on policies and procedures as well as quality control measures for test procedures; ensures compliance with standards and regulations.
• Organsies and provides direction to in-service meetings and continuing education seminars.
• Reviews and submits departmental payroll.
• Ensures all laboratory personnel maintain accredited licensing and certification and submits licensure confirmations.
• Maintains adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents; provides recommendations for capital equipment acquisition and space utilization.
