Summary

The Chemistry Supervisor maintains the high quality of laboratory functions by coordinating and overseeing the technical activities of the services section across all shifts.

This role includes:

1. Supervision of technical policies and procedures, including management and supervision of personnel.
2. Implementation of new technology, maintaining the quality control program, proficiency testing, competency testing, and meeting all regulatory requirements (CAP, FDA, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.) related to processing specimens and performing chemistry, immunoassay, urinalysis, and electrophoresis testing.
3. Instrument maintenance and inventory management.
4. Additional duties such as budget preparation and review, billing review, cost accounting, productivity management, and LIS system maintenance related to blood bank/transfusion services.
5. The supervisor may also be required to serve as a bench technologist as workload necessitates.

Minimum Education and Licensing Requirements

• Formal training in Medical Technology.
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
• Florida State Laboratory Supervisor's license in Chemistry, Immunology, or Hematology.

Experience Requirements

• At least three years of experience working with basic laboratory sciences relevant to decision-making.
• One year of supervisory experience is desirable.
