Job summary

The University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor position in Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D.

in organic chemistry and have experience with Canvas and Microsoft Teams, with a strong commitment to chemistry education and the ability to craft original free-response exams. Responsibilities include teaching two large sections each term (over 200 students) and participating in service activities

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in organic chemistry is required.
• Experience designing and adapting undergraduate chemistry exams is preferred.
• Ability to teach Organic Chemistry I and II and General Chemistry to large lecture sections.

Responsibilities

• Teach two large Organic Chemistry I and/or II sections, or one Organic Chemistry and one General Chemistry section, each semester.
• Prepare original free-response midterm and final exams for Organic Chemistry lecture sections.
• Engage in department and university service and curriculum-improvement activities as appropriate for a non-tenure-track instructional role.
