Job summary

Northwestern University in Evanston, IL is hiring an Assistant Professor of Instruction (teaching track) in WCAS Chemistry. This is a nine-month, benefits-eligible, non-tenure position with an initial three-year appointment.

The role focuses on teaching, advising, scholarly activity and contributing to the ACS-accredited undergraduate chemistry program. You will develop inquiry-based labs, implement assessments, train TAs, and mentor students while delivering lectures and grading.

Qualifications

• PhD completed in Chemistry, Chemical Education, or related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Experience supervising/overseeing a laboratory.
• Interest in advancing and publishing educational innovations.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate chemistry courses and laboratories.
• Advise and mentor students; participate in training of teaching assistants.
• Contribute to scholarly activity and educational innovations within the department.
• Develop and implement inquiry-based experiments and valid assessments of student learning.
• Perform administrative duties such as grading and service to the program.
