Qualifications

  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree in chemistry, or possess an earned master's or higher degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in chemistry-related courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes and provide a syllabus aligned with course requirements.
  • Maintain attendance and grading records per College policy.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to assist.
  • Use LMS (Canvas), PowerPoint and other tech as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Chemistry faculty to align curricula and improve instruction.
  • Teach virtual classes via Zoom and adapt to remote delivery.
  • Adhere to diversity, equity and inclusion practices in teaching.
  • Submit information within deadlines and respond to departmental coordination.
  • Assist with curricular development and ensure coherence with program coursework.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PROGRAM OPERATION:
1. Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
2. Provide a syllabus appropriate to the course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
3. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
4. Submits requested information within established timelines.
5. available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
6. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with the program coordinator to resolve issues.
INSTRUCTION:
7. Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as LMS (Canvas), PowerPoint, etc., as appropriate. In the event of an emergency absence, notifies the department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diverse people, styles, and views. Promote the same as an integral part of one's work.
8. Work collaboratively with other Chemistry faculty and other instructors in the Science Department to foster excellence in chemistry and its teaching. This includes working successfully with colleagues in the Science Department to develop and modify curricula, integrate new instructional methods into courses, and work to assure curricular coherence with other programmatic coursework.
9. Must have a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
10. Ability to teach virtual classes (remotely via zoom)

Pay: $47.35 per contact hour

Hours: daytime, evening, and weekend classes - depending on course schedule

Chemistry Discipline Standard
  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in chemistry, or
  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in chemistry-related courses.
