Under the Laboratory Manager, you will perform duties outlined in the department's responsibilities and contribute to high manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field.
  • 1+ years laboratory experience in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with HPLC and GC-MS is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily maintenance and support of laboratory equipment and tasks.
  • Perform daily sample preparation, analysis, data collection, and pass to Quality Control for release or rejection.
  • Assist investigations on materials/products not conforming to quality standards, including out-of-spec results and complaints.
  • Engage in continuing education in SOPs and cross-training in laboratory techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in the laboratory.

Job Details:

Job Location: Oregons Wild Harvest Inc - Redmond, OR, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Contributes to the operational efficiency in the Laboratory.

Contributes to the operational efficiency in the Laboratory. The primary function of this job will require workers to follow all SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and approved laboratory methods to ensure all products are compliant with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations; NSF GMP standards; SQF food safety certification standards; non-GMO (genetically modified organism), Oregon Tilth organic, and Demeter Biodynamic certification standards; and our exceptionally high manufacturing standards; and help ensure that product is available to ship as scheduled.

Actively and cooperatively participate as a member of the Research and Lab Services Department to ensure that dietary supplements manufactured at OWH meet quality standards.

Under supervision of the Laboratory Manager, perform and complete laboratory work as outlined in the department’s active job responsibility listing.

Key Function/Job Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the daily maintenance and support of the laboratory equipment and tasks.
  2. Perform daily sample preparation, analysis, data collection, and pass summarization on to the Quality Control department for release/rejection of materials and finished goods.
  3. Assist with investigations on materials and products that do not conform to OWH’s quality standards including out-of-specification results and product complaints.
  4. Engage in continuing education in both OWH Standard operating Procedures (SOPs) and cross-training in various laboratory techniques.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned or needed in the laboratory
Qualifications: Qualifications/Skills:

Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field required.

Experience: 1+ years laboratory experience in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field required. Chemistry background required. Experience with HPLC and GCMS preferred, but not required.

Skills:
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation required and ability to learn operation of other instrumentation.
  • Comfortable working with various chemicals, acids, bases, oxidizers, solvents, etc.
  • Able to use laboratory measuring devices, microscopes and computers
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to perform basic math/algebra functions
  • Ability to work independently
Requirements:
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) required
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team
  • Able to follow written Standard Operating Procedures
  • Must be dependable, accurate, and possess integrity and commitment to high quality standards
  • Understands and follows OWH basic rules, policies, and procedures (attendance, safety, business conduct, etc.
  • Treats others with courtesy and respect; understands the value of cooperating with others and teamwork, as well as being able to work independently
  • Able to handle stress appropriately
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required
Physical Requirements: Able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation:
