Job summary

Actalent is seeking an analytical chemist for a contract position in Shawnee, KS. The role focuses on routine analysis of finished dosage forms and raw materials, method transfer/validation, and cleaning validation.

You will conduct HPLC/GC analyses, prepare reagents, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment while maintaining strict documentation. The candidate will interpret USP/EP/JP monographs, write SOPs and reports, and train others to become subject matter experts in laboratory practices.

Qualifications

• Proficient at HPLC/GC analysis and preparation of reagents and sample solutions.
• Reads and interprets USP/EP/JP monographs and analytical methods.
• Able to train others and provide guidance as SME in lab practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute method transfer and validation reports.

Description

Performs routine analysis of finished pharmaceutical dosages and/or raw materials following approved analytical methodology and specifications. Design and execute the method transfer protocol, method validations and writing method transfer / validation reports. Design and execute the cleaning validation protocols and writing final reports. Support the activities to develop analytical methods to assess the purity, potency and stability of drug substances and finished products. Proficient at HPLC/GC analysis and preparation of reagents and sample solutions for testing. Operation of laboratory analytical instrumentation and be able to assist in the troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Maintains accurate, detailed records of work performed. Assists in ensuring testing is in adherence to schedules through team-oriented process. Reads and interprets USP, EP, JP compendial monographs, and analytical methodology. Writes SOPs, laboratory protocols and reports, memos and/or other interdepartmental correspondence. Ability to train and provide guidance to other personnel and become a subject matter expert in general and advanced laboratory practices. Utilizes root cause analysis tools and technical writing to complete laboratory investigations. Independently conducts and documents laboratory investigations and acts as a backup for the laboratory supervisor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
