Job summary

Benchmark Electronics Inc in Concord, CA is seeking a Chemical Technician to process parts per procedures, perform titrations to determine bath composition, and set up lab equipment while monitoring process parameters.

You will compile data, interpret results, and collaborate with engineers to improve production processes. A high school diploma and 2–4 years of direct chemical experience are required; HAZCOM/HAZWOPER training is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years experience in chemical processes: cleaning, etching, plating, polishing.
  • HAZCOM and HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • Completed apprenticeship or on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow instructions and specifications of engineers.
  • Independently process parts on the SST line and Aluminum line.
  • Independently manage waste treatment area.
  • Assist with preparation of chemical solutions.
  • Chemically process metal parts.
  • Keep the work area neat and clean and sterilize surfaces/equipment.
  • Regularly inspect materials and equipment and order more as required.
  • Work with engineers to develop improved production processes and methods.
  • Complete titrations of chemical baths and adjust chemicals as needed for correct composition.
  • Interpret test results and compile reports.
  • Visually inspect parts.
  • Package parts.

Summary

The Chemical Technician’s responsibilities include processing parts per procedures, performing titrations to determine chemical bath composition, setting up lab equipment and monitoring process parameters, compiling data, and interpreting results. Requires ability follow instructions and collaborate with others as well as passion about quality, production and chemistry. Should have in-depth Chemistry knowledge and superb observational and analytical skills.

  • Working alongside other engineers and technicians to develop improved production processes and methods.
  • Completing titrations of chemical baths and adding chemical(s) as needed to make correct composition
  • Interpreting test results and compiling reports.
  • Visual inspection of parts.
  • Packaging of parts.
Education / Experience
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in directly applicable chemical processes: cleaning, etching, plating, polishing, etc.
  • HAZCOM and HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • A completed apprenticeship or on-the-job training.
Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of lab safety.
  • Strong analytical, observational, and time management skills
Abilities
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday
  • Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, and reason.
  • Ability to wear PPE as required.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.

Education:

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.

Compensation Range: $23.51 to $30.00 USD. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
