Suterra is seeking a Chemical Systems Technician to safely operate automated chemical manufacturing systems for pheromone products. The role emphasizes attention to detail, procedural discipline, and documenting complex processes in a regulated environment.

Position Summary

The Chemical Systems Technician is responsible for safely operating automated chemical manufacturing systems used to produce Suterra's industry-leading pheromone products. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to accurately follow and document complex manufacturing processes.

Successful technicians monitor computerized process control systems, perform in-process testing, maintain detailed production documentation, and work collaboratively to ensure every batch meets Suterra's rigorous standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do
Manufacturing Operations
  • Safely operate chemical processing equipment using computerized control systems and detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Accurately prepare, load, transfer, and process raw materials according to batch records and manufacturing specifications.
  • Monitor process conditions and equipment performance to ensure products meet quality, safety, and production requirements.
  • Perform in-process testing (IPT) using specialized instrumentation to evaluate process performance and product quality.
  • Identify process abnormalities and communicate concerns promptly to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Documentation & Quality
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and legible production records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Record process data, measurements, observations, and deviations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Review batch documentation to verify completeness and identify discrepancies.
  • Follow established quality systems to ensure regulatory and customer requirements are consistently met.
  • Participate in investigations, process improvements, and corrective actions as needed.
Safety & Compliance
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety by following all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S and housekeeping principles.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment after training and certification.
  • Support environmental compliance by handling materials responsibly and responding appropriately to spills or process deviations.
Teamwork & Communication
  • Communicate clearly and effectively during shift handoffs to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Partner with teammates, supervisors, maintenance personnel, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continuously develop technical knowledge.
  • Contribute ideas that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Schedule & Benefits
Schedule
  • 12-hour rotating shifts, 3 days on - 3 days off, 4 days on - 4 days off
  • Annual schedule published in advance
  • Rotating day and night shifts every 4 months.
  • Daily overtime opportunities available

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, food processing, industrial manufacturing, or another regulated production environment preferred.
  • Ability to accurately follow detailed written instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical skills including weights, measurements, ratios, percentages, and unit conversions.
  • Ability to accurately complete production records, batch documentation, and electronic data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and troubleshoot manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable using computerized manufacturing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with team members.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle production materials and equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience using distributed control systems (DCS), PLC-controlled equipment, or computerized process control systems.
  • Forklift certification or previous forklift experience.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or 5S principles.
  • Experience working in GMP, ISO, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments.
