Job summary

Tech Met, Inc. is hiring a Chemical Surface Technician I for its Glassport facility on a full-time daylight shift. The role involves performing chemical surfacing operations, reading orders and drawings, and using immersion equipment with templates and hand tools.

You will wear PPE as required and work with precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications. The position requires lifting, reading gauges, and following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read work orders, drawings, and process specifications.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, thickness gauges).
• Experience reading non-metric tapes and taking precise measurements.
• Must be able to lift 30–100 lbs with assistance and work with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Spray and etch specified portions of metal parts using immersion equipment and templates.
• Read work orders and drawings to determine etch locations and sequence.
• Clean surfaces and prepare parts for etching.
• Immerse parts in etching solution and rinse per procedures.
• Measure etched parts to confirm conformance to specs.
• Support Donora facility when needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

THE POSITION:

Our growing company has an opening for a Chemical SurfaceTechnician I. The preferred candidate should have experience working in a manufacturing or manufacturing-related position. This position performs chemical surfacing operations in support of production. This position may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals and requires the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment, which is supplied by the company. This is a full-time position, on daylight shift operations at our Glassport facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• This position independently sprays and etches specified portions of metal parts and materials using immersion equipment, templates, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments
• Able to read work order, customer provided drawings, and process specifications to determine location of etch, finished dimensions, and method and sequence of operations
• Cleans surface of parts and materials to remove contaminants
• Immerses parts and materials in etching solution for specified time, manually or using hoist
• Removes objects from etch solution, rinses objects with water, and removes remaining maskant
• Measures etched parts and materials for conformance to specifications, using micrometers, scales, and other precision measuring instruments
• Help support Donora facility when needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or a general education diploma (GED)
• Organizational skills and adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must be able to work well in a team
• Previous experience operating a forklift or pallet jack a plus
• Must be able to read & use a non-metric measuring tape
• Must be able to count & perform simple mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division)
• Must be able to read & use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, thickness gauges, and micrometers.
• Previous experience operating cranes, a forklift and/or pallet jack a plus
• Requires Heavy Lifting of Parts 30lbs + and up to 100lbs with assistance Position requires various schedules when necessary, including some weekend hours and/or evening
• Prior experience with metal products a plus
• Due to the nature of the work performed in this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses, safety gloves when needed, and ANSII approved steel or composite toed footwear
