Job summary

Ormat Technologies, Inc. is seeking a field operations technician to manage chemical treatment programs for geofluid and cooling water systems at multiple field sites. The role requires hands-on maintenance, data collection, and reporting of system performance.

The candidate must have two years of related field experience, hazardous waste training, and strong skills in Excel and Office. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to sites are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service to geofluid and cooling water chemical treatment programs during field visits.
  • Implement chemical treatment systems including pumps, tubing, valves, and fittings.
  • Report and assist in troubleshooting equipment and process inefficiencies.
  • Perform maintenance to improve equipment issues.
  • Document wellfield and cooling water chemical treatment history.
  • Adhere to safety procedures per ORMAT, CAPP, and OSHA.
  • Complete field titrations and other chemistries on samples as needed.
  • Safely operate a vehicle, read maps, and remain alert during long drives.
  • Attend monthly safety training and support plant staff as needed.

This position is responsible for field operations and maintenance of chemical treatment programs including inventory management, general treatment application maintenance, assisting in equipment troubleshooting and reporting findings and data gathered in the field.

Essential Functions
  • Provide service to geofluid and cooling water chemical treatment programs during field visits and dispatches.
  • Must be able to implement, at various locations, chemical treatments systems including chemical injection pumps, delivery tubing, valves, and fittings.
  • Responsible for reporting and assisting in troubleshooting of equipment, procedural, and conditional inefficiencies.
  • Perform maintenance to improve equipment issues.
  • Provide and maintain documentation of wellfield and cooling water chemical treatment history.
  • Must understand the hazards of various process operations and work in a safe manner.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce safety procedures as required by ORMAT, CAPP, and OSHA.
  • Complete field titrations and other chemistries on geofluid samples and cooling water samples as needed.
  • Able to safely remove and replace scale and corrosion coupons using PPE and appropriate removal tools from high‑pressure fluid process systems.
  • Reporting inventory, usage rates of treatment chemicals, and overall performance of chemical treatment program as directed.
  • Provide recommendations for physical improvements of chemical treatment applications and plant operations.
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous periods of time and read and understand maps.
Other Responsibilities
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Perform general housekeeping duties
  • Attend monthly safety training
  • Train operations and plant staff on chemical applications as needed to maintain general knowledge of critical systems throughout personnel
Education, Experience, And Skills Required
  • A minimum of two (2) years field work in power plant chemical system or related experience, including hands‑on maintenance related to cooling towers, specialty treatment chemical systems, heat exchangers, turbine‑generators, auxiliary equipment, control systems, and environmental equipment
  • This position requires initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including thorough reporting of gathered data
  • Must be competent in Excel and other Microsoft suite products for documentation and data sharing
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Requires a high degree of initiative and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties
  • Must possess at any time a valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT auto insurance carrier
