Job summary

Koch Modular is seeking a Chemical Engineer to design, support and troubleshoot distillation and extraction pilot tests at our Houston facility. You will perform process engineering on projects, proposals and studies under supervision, applying solid engineering judgment and scheduling the work effectively.

Essential duties include pilot testing, process simulations, PFD creation, equipment design and control specification, as well as startup support and client training as needed.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering with 3–10 years of related work experience.
• Experience in a plant or pilot testing facility.
• Process simulation modeling skills; Aspen/HYSYS/Pro II familiarity is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization and time management.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, support and troubleshoot distillation and extraction pilot tests.
• Develop simulations of chemical process systems for tests and projects.
• Create PFDs with material and energy balances.
• Design equipment and specify process vessels, heat exchangers and towers.
• Select instrumentation, controls and perform line-sizing calculations.
• Define control logic and automated sequencing; prepare operating manuals.
• Support projects with field inspections and startup participation.
