Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Ohio is seeking an operator to perform rounds, quality testing, and routine operations across the plant. You will monitor process conditions, troubleshoot issues, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires adherence to safety standards and teamwork in a 12-hour day/night rotating shift. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced chemical

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and operation of control systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude for understanding and working with processing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rounds & field quality testing to check process equipment, product quality, and monitor process conditions and control systems.
  • Perform tasks assigned to operations.
  • Use basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to resolve process deviation and upset conditions.
  • Perform simple problem solving and participate in improving daily work.
  • Follow the standard work processes and practices as outlined by the site and/or unit.
  • Understand and deliver what is expected of operators when an unplanned event occurs that will trigger a root cause investigation.
  • Participate in root cause investigations as requested.
  • Train new unit operating personnel and share operating knowledge for their development.
  • Ensure operations performance within their assigned responsibility align with plant and business goals.
  • Make improvements in unit operating discipline and performance based on personal knowledge and skills.
  • Monitor key unit metrics to ensure plant performance remains on track to achieve unit and business goals.
  • Accurately and completely record asset utilization losses.
  • Develop the skills and competencies required to perform operator care for the plant activities.
  • Utilize the appropriate operating discipline and safe work practices required when performing operator care for the plant activities.
  • Follow the Procedure Use Policy of the unit and/or site.

In This Role, You Will

Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward
  • Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Delta V.
Your Work Environment
  • Participate in plant emergency response organization with the requirement of successfully completing the 36‑Hour Fire Course test and state test.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a plant environment, including outdoor conditions in all types of weather.
  • Must be available to work 12‑hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to maintain a valid forklift operator certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs as part of job duties.
  • Must be prepared and able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator, which requires maintaining a clean‑shaven appearance, as well as a fall protection harness, and hearing protection.
