Job summary

Gulbrandsen in Orangeburg, SC is seeking a Production Operator to support daily plant operations in a challenging chemical manufacturing environment.

You will back up the Lead Operator, stock reactors, maintain housekeeping, operate forklifts, and ensure safety and quality while meeting customer demands. Starting pay rate is $18.00 per hour with review after 90 days.

Qualifications

• Prior chemical plant experience preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of facility operations.
• Must understand work hazards and plant safety procedures.

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Responsible for performing the activities related to daily operations of the Production facility. Will be required to gain understanding of the chemical and material handling system. Responsible for ensuring safety, quality and for meeting customer demands as required. Will work overtime as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assist Lead Operator with daily plant operations
• Serve as backup to Lead Operator for emergency response
• Stock chemical reactors with raw materials
• Housekeeping and cleaning of the production facility
• Routinely work in stressful situations involving emergency responding to unusual situations.
• Forklift operations
• Comply with and enforce all safety and material handling requirements.
• Transfer material to and from tanks
• Assist with special departmental projects.
• Assist with special team projects.
• Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical

• Prior chemical plant experience preferred
• Must have or acquire a working knowledge of facility operations.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, and plant safety matters.
• Must be able to work as part of a self focused team.

Physical Capabilities

• Physical strength and ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods under uncomfortable conditions and in all types of weather, as necessary.
• Ability to work in hot environments.
• Ability to work in outside environments (rain, cold, wind).
• Stand for long periods
• Stand on hard surface: including concrete, tile, metal grating
• Reaching with hands and arms
• Use hand/eye coordination for detail work
• Climbing stairs-cases of up to 50 flights several times daily.
• Work while standing on an uneven surface

Pay Rate $18.00 per hour start rate.

Performance review with pay increase after 90 days.
