Ingevity in North Charleston, SC is hiring a Chemical Plant Operator for the North Charleston Plant. The role offers 12-hour rotating shifts, outdoor environment, and probationary wage progression from $25.85 to $27.63 per hour as you prove safety and reliability.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow Daily Operating Instructions.
• Record information in log sheets at end of shift.
• Keep Facilitator, Supervisor, and Engineers updated on issues.
• Perform Lock Out Tag Out as necessary.
• Ensure environmental permits are satisfied.
• Keep work area clean.

Chemical Plant Operator - North Charleston Plant

Starting wages for our hourly team members is $25.85 and increases to $27.63 after having completed a probationary period

As a Chemical Plant Operator at the North Charleston Plant you will have the opportunity to join a highly engaged team that takes pride in working safely and producing chemicals that are used to enhance the world around us such as emulsifiers, rosin, tall oil fatty acid (TOFA), and lignin. The North Charleston Plant started operation in 1948, and today employees approximately 200 team members.

12 hour rotating shift work plus availability for overtime will be required. This facility is an outdoor plant environment.

How you will impact Ingevity

• Follow Daily Operating Instructions

What you need to succeed

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two or more years of industrial manufacturing experience OR two years of equivalent college training/technical certification OR any direct experience working at an Ingevity chemical manufacturing facility in shipping or similar operations
• Demonstrate math skills commensurate with the job requirements.
• Strong written and oral communication
• Ability to use computer
• Ability to think ahead and coordinate - be proactive
• Ability to manage situations under pressure
• Ability to stand for prolong period of time, ability to bend, and lift up to 50lbs as needed
