Job summary

Fortrex in Wisconsin seeks a production team member to join our safety-driven operation. You will help produce and package products, operate plant equipment, and uphold strict safety and SQF standards in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires basic math, strong communication, and readiness to learn forklift operation. Expect a structured facility with comprehensive health and safety training and supportive team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older and have a GED or high school diploma.
  • Able to read and comprehend policy manuals and safety procedures.
  • Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy.
  • Experience in manufacturing and forklift operation is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a safety-conscious plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and guidelines; protect yourself and coworkers.
  • Execute emergency procedures and maintain plant safety.
  • Record processing information in electronic devices and paper documents.

JOB DESCRIPTION


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Adhere to all safety policies and guidelines; is accountable for their personal safety and the safety of their co-workers.

  • Execute emergency procedures in response to chemical incidents, inclement weather, or other situations that threaten the safety of team members and the plant site.

  • Accurately record processing information in electronic devices and on paper documents.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace.

  • Work cohesively with team members across multiple departments.

  • Perform duties required to comply with SQF standards.

  • Complete initial and routine safety, processing, and compliance training.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  • Safely utilize and operate equipment to produce and package products including the following:

  • PPE

  • Weigh scales

  • Flow meters

  • Level, temperature, and pressure measuring devices

  • Centrifugal and air diaphragm pumps with associated hoses and dip pipes

  • Cam lock hoses and fittings

  • Manual and automatic valves

  • Sample valves/collection points

  • HMIs and PLCs

  • Desktop/Laptop computers

  • Prepare finished products for shipment with proper labels and batch documentation.

  • Troubleshoot software, instrumentation, solids-handling, blending, and hydraulic systems.

  • Participate in lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures on equipment in preparation for maintenance and other activities.

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.


YOUR MUST HAVES:



  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (“GED”).

  • Comprehend documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Knowledge of basic math- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Execute written, oral or diagrammed instructions.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).

  • Ability to comprehend and execute written procedures and policies .

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to learn to safely drive a forklift in a production area

OUR ENVIRONMENT:


This position is based in our manufacturing plant environment. Expected exposure to wet, hot, cold, various shifts, requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


Constant (role requires this activity more than 66% of the time (5.5+ hrs/day) Use of fingers and hands. Lift/Carry 10 lbs or less & push/pull 12 lbs or less.


Frequent (role requires this activity from 33% - 66% of the time (2.5 - 5.5+ hrs/day) Stand, climb stairs, walk, sit, reach outward, squat/kneel, bend. Lift/Carry 11-50 lbs & push/pull 13-40 lbs.


Occasional (role requires this activity up to 33% of the time (0 - 2.5+ hrs/day) Climb & crawl. Lift/Carry 51+ lbs & push/pull 41-100 lbs.
