Job summary

Aurorium is seeking a Chemical Operator to perform production and maintenance tasks for finished products. Responsibilities include operating catalyst columns, distillation, and reactor operations, plus maintaining logs and quality records.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, preferably PTEC, and 1–3 years in petrochemical environments. Candidates must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts and adhere to safety practices.

Qualifications

• PTEC Certification is preferred.
• One to three years of petrochemical industry experience is preferred.
• Mechanical ability and knowledge of pipe, fittings, and piping layout.
• Ability to work full-time on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operates catalyst columns per SOPs.
• Assists in distillation column and reactor operations.
• Maintains logs and inventory records.
• Prepares batches and weighs finished product.
• Pumps product into storage and charges vessels/reactors.
• Performs general maintenance and safety duties (LOTO).
• Maintains housekeeping and equipment in good repair.
• Supports storm water and wastewater treatment efforts.
• Trains and mentors other team members as needed.

Description

The Chemical Operator’s primary responsibility is to perform all functions necessary for the manufacture of finished products. Performs a variety of related production and maintenance work, as assigned, and as necessary for the efficient operation of production.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Operates catalyst columns
• Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Assists the Senior Operator on distillation column operation and reactor operation (Rearranged)
• Completes all required log sheets before and during shift change; maintains appropriate records for inventory control of materials
• Prepares formulated batches; weighs finished product
• Pumps finished product into storage vessels; charges various vessels and reactors
• Performs general maintenance, cleaning and LOTO equipment (Rearranged)
• Performs duties necessary for storm water and wastewater treatment and maintenance
• Assists in operation and maintenance of waste treatment system
• Maintains good housekeeping in all areas
• Maintains tools and equipment in good repair
• Performs any other production and maintenance tasks as assigned by Sr Operator and/or Management
• Duties must be performed with precision, accuracy, and close attention to details

Education and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• PTEC Certification (preferred)

Experience

• one to three years of petrochemical industry experience (preferred)
• Mechanical ability and working knowledge of pipe, pipefittings, and general piping layout
• At least 2-3 years of chemical manufacturing experience
• Mechanical experience
• Ability to work full-time on a rotating 12-hour swing shift schedule
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Process Safety and PPE requirements
• Knowledge of Energy Control/Lock Out Tag Out

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to pass a functional physical testing and be able to use standard safety equipment and wear all required personal protective equipment (in extreme hot/cold environments)
• Ability to pass physical, drug screen and background check if offer is received and accepted
• Ability to work in confined, tight or closed-in spaces
• Must have the physical ability to lift hoses, to climb ladders or stairs through multiple levels, to work at heights, bolt flanges, operate valves and similar equipment as part of normal job
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• One year on the job, and Bercen Cross-Training experience preferred
• Familiarization with names of chemicals and materials contained in formulas and finished products
• Basic math skills
