Job summary

Brenntag is seeking a Warehouse Operator to safely handle liquid and dry chemical products, load/unload from trucks, tankers, and railcars, and maintain precise inventory records. The role requires forklift operation (certified), attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced environment.

You will repackage, label, and stage products, perform quality checks with lab personnel, and assist with physical inventory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or US military experience.
• 2+ years of chemical operations experience preferred if education/service requirements not met.
• Able to pass forklift certification exam and operate forklift safely.
• Able to read, comprehend and carry out detailed instructions in English; write simple correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
• Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices (smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs).
• Meet production requirements based on information/equipment used.
• Wear safety equipment as prescribed.
• Comply with placarding rules when loading/unloading trucks.

This hands‑on role involves loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records. Job Description:

General:

• Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars. This work is physical and requires attention to detail as follows:

  • Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses
  • Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load
  • Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations
  • Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages
  • Product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel
  • Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs. Record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program
  • Picking and staging product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions

• Operation of powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse, and maintain daily forklift checklist

  • Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse
  • Ability to lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances
  • Ability to stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses

• Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment. This work is physical and requires attention to detail:

  • Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations making sure of proper labelling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements
  • Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items.
  • Operate electronic scale and process devices
  • Carefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations

• Responsibility for inventory

  • Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage
  • Rearrange stored materials
  • Assist in counting of physical inventory

• General Maintenance
  • Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workers
  • When spills occur, responsible for immediate reporting and cleanup
  • Protect property from theft or damage

• Other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required

Your Profile

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
• Candidates with prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
• Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
• Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc. to carry out normal business operations.
• Meet or exceed production requirements based on information and or equipment used in the course of work performance
• Wear safety equipment as prescribed by company
• Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks

Other Job Requirements:

• Participate in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainings
• Must be available to work any days of the week, any assigned 8-12 hour shift
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
• Good safety and attendance record
• Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel
• Observe, follow and enforce all company policies and procedures
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Must pass E-verify check
• Must be capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag. Only applicable to MTSA sites.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator.
• Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material
• Able to utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasks
• Standing and walking for long periods of time, up to 95% of day
• Must be able to operate standing & sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks and drum pickers.
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to the top of tanks, tankers and rail cars
• Frequently exposed to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time) sometimes in extreme weather conditions
