Position Summary
The Chemical Loading Operator performs all aspects of safely transferring bulk liquid chemical products to and from trucks, rail, and barges.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safe and proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in compliance with plant requirements
- Provide efficient and traceable movement of in-bound and out-bound company products
- Load and unload hazardous liquid chemical trucks, rail cars, and barges
- Perform standard work and adhere to standard operating procedures to ensure unit safety, quality, and production goals are met
- Maintain proper housekeeping and clean work environment
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including fire brigade, HAZWOPER technician, and confined space rescue
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Experience in manufacturing or chemical plant operations is preferred
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card is required

- Chemical operations background/experience is preferred

- Ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action within an industrial setting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Strong work ethic, initiative, and ability to learn new technical skills
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule
- Work in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.)
- Work at elevated heights – greater than 100 feet
- Lift at least 50 lbs
- Work in confined spaces
- Ability to handle and work with highly hazardous chemicals
- Ability to wear and work in full body PPE (personal protective equipment) which includes acid suit (acid jacket & acid pants) – full face respirator and hood
- Basic computer skills
Hourly Rate
The hourly rate for this position is $28.31.
