Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, EHS, or industrial hygiene is required.
• Minimum 2 years of research safety experience.
• Experience in education and training for laboratory staff in chemical safety, lab practices, or related hazards.
• Detailed knowledge of federal and state health and safety regulations and codes relating to laboratories.
• Experience in conducting inspections or investigations.
• Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Chemical Hygiene Officer and update CHPs and SOPs.
• Train group members to develop SOPs for hazardous operations.
• Audit safety plans and provide feedback to improve safety programs.
• Assist departments to establish and maintain safety committees and training programs.
• Develops, designs, and presents laboratory safety training programs.
• Provide hazard assessments and recommend controls for laboratories and shops.
• Independently interpret regulations and prepare documentation for auditors or inspectors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and document investigations and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal and external safety professionals to enhance programs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in science / EHS related field

Master's degree in chemistry/biology/engineering or related field

CHMM/CIH/CSP certification

HAZWOPER 40-hour training

Driver's license
