Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a Chemical Hygiene Officer to lead chemical hygiene and laboratory safety programs across clinical and research environments. You will oversee policies, risk assessments, and training, partnering with stakeholders to strengthen MSK’s culture of safety and continuous improvement.

The role requires deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and strong program management, with opportunities to advance safety initiatives within a premier cancer center

Qualifikationen

• Five or more years of relevant experience in chemical hygiene, chemical safety, laboratory safety, or a related EHS discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of chemical hygiene, laboratory risk assessment, inspections, hazard controls, corrective actions, and high-hazard laboratory operations.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, NYSDEC, DOT, FDNY, and other federal, state and local EHS requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage EHS programs or complex initiatives from planning through evaluation and improvement.
• Ability to collaborate with EHS colleagues, laboratory leadership, researchers, clinicians, facilities partners, and stakeholders.
• Sound technical judgment and ability to respond decisively to emergencies and safety concerns.
• Preferred certifications include CIH, CSP, ASP, or CHMM.

Aufgaben

• Lead chemical hygiene and laboratory safety programs across clinical and research laboratories.
• Maintain, implement, evaluate, and improve the Chemical Hygiene Plan and related policies.
• Oversee high-hazard procedures, PPE, chemical inventory management, engineering controls, and safety incidents.
• Conduct risk assessments and recommend controls to reduce hazards.
• Administer the laboratory inspection program and coordinate corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver laboratory safety training and support to supervisors.
