Job summary

Hydrite Chemical Co. in Visalia, California seeks an Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience on engineering projects. You will develop SOPs, support capital projects, and assist in process optimization under the Plant Manager's supervision.

The internship runs May/June 2027 through August/September 2027, with opportunities for future full-time roles upon graduation. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program and have strong computer skills.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in accredited university pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Chemical).
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint (or equivalent).
• Strong presentation skills preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership skills preferred (candidates may lead installation crews on capital projects).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical analysis for projects as assigned.
• Assist in implementation of capital projects and maintenance activities.
• Develop, review, and update SOPs to align with current practices and regulatory requirements.
• Support plant operations by assisting in troubleshooting, process optimization, and documentation of system workflows.
• Perform engineering clerical-type duties as assigned.
• Investigate and implement cost saving improvements (waste reduction, cycle-time reduction, etc.).
• Investigate and implement cycle time improvements (batch/process throughput, cleanout time reduction, etc.).
• Investigate and implement site energy reduction and sustainability opportunities.
