Job summary

Emerson is offering an internship in the Twin Cities area (Shakopee, Chanhassen, or Eden Prairie, MN) for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry. The role is full-time in-person with hands-on lab work, design investigation, and collaboration across teams.

You will perform lab experiments, develop test plans, and analyze data to drive design decisions, while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry.
• 0 years of related professional experience.
• Ability to work full-time in-person at a Twin Cities location (Shakopee, Chanhassen, or Eden Prairie, MN).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Own a defined design project or project segment, contributing to new product development, sensor design improvement, or technology investigation efforts.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments and evaluations to characterize sensor or system performance.
• Develop test plans and propose design approaches for investigating technical questions or validating design concepts.
• Analyze experimental data and translate findings into actionable design recommendations.
• Document results through technical reports, design summaries, and presentations to project teams and leadership.
• Research and source materials, components, or equipment needed to support design objectives.
• Collaborate with engineers, chemists, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and other stakeholders across functional disciplines.
• Support test solution preparation, laboratory equipment maintenance, and test setup development.
• Maintain laboratory safety by safely handling chemicals and following established testing procedures.
• Support additional technical initiatives as business needs arise.
