• Design and direct the testing and control of processing procedures.
• Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to design objectives.
• Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.
• Plan and implement laboratory operations to develop fabrication procedures meeting cost, product specs, and performance.
• Review new product plans and advise on manufacturability to meet design objectives.
• Potentially supervise a crew of hourly employees.
• Support the business with various other duties.

As a Chemical Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern’s education level and plant location, but will generally reflect the duties outlined below.

Summary Of Responsibilities

• Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials

• Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration
• Plan and implement laboratory operations for the purpose of developing material and fabrication procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards
• Review new product plans and make recommendations for ease of manufacturability while meeting the product design objectives, such as strength, weight, corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost
• Potentially supervise a crew of hourly employees
• Various other duties as assigned to support the business

Minimum Qualifications

• Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in Chemical Engineering or other related technical degrees
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027
