Job summary

Harcros Chemicals is seeking a Chemical Operator to load, unload, move materials, and support hazardous waste handling in a plant environment. You will operate forklifts and other equipment, fill containers, blend chemicals, and ensure documentation complies with safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience; 1–3 months of related training.
  • Ability to read safety documents, procedures and manuals; write basic reports.
  • Strong math skills and ability to perform calculations quickly.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal and diagram-based instructions.
  • Capable of operating forklift and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and move materials within the facility.
  • Operate forklift trucks, industrial trucks, and electric hoists.
  • Load/unload tank trucks and railcars.
  • Fill drums, totes, and pails.
  • Perform mixing/blending and packaging of chemicals.
  • Transport materials between storage and designated areas.
  • Read and follow work orders or verbal instructions.
  • Handle hazardous waste including storage, spill response, logs, and compliance.

Position Summary

The Chemical Operator is responsible for loading, unloading, moving, and handling materials within a plant environment. The role includes operating equipment, filling containers, blending chemicals, and supporting hazardous waste handling, storage, and documentation in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load, unload, and move materials within the facility
  • Operate forklift trucks, industrial trucks, and electric hoists
  • Load/unload tank trucks and railcars
  • Fill drums, totes, and pails
  • Perform mixing/blending and packaging of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
  • Transport materials between storage and designated areas
  • Read and follow work orders or verbal instructions
  • Handle and manage hazardous waste, including:
    • Storage and inspection
    • Spill response and incident management
    • Maintaining manifests, inspection logs, and reports
    • Ensure compliance with environmental standards and safety regulations
Qualifications
  • Required: High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) 1–3 months of related experience or training
  • Ability to: Read safety documents, procedures, and manuals Write basic reports and communicate effectively Perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, ratios, percentages) Follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions Solve routine operational problems Ability to operate a forklift and mechanical equipment
  • Preferred:
    • Prior experience in: Chemical handling or manufacturing
    • Hazardous waste management and compliance
    • Industrial or plant operations
    • Familiarity with environmental regulations and reporting processes

  • Regular exposure to: Moving mechanical parts
  • Outdoor weather conditions
  • Fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Electrical hazards
  • Frequent work in elevated or precarious areas

Physical Requirements

  • Use hands for handling tools and controls
