Job summary

Chem-Aqua, a leading water treatment solutions provider, seeks a Mechanical Engineer in Macon, GA to improve equipment lines and provide training, drawings, and guidance for field installations. The role focuses on simplifying processes and enabling the sales team to pursue new opportunities.

The engineer will draft, size, and evaluate equipment, work with AUTOCAD and SolidWorks, and develop technical instructions while supporting commissioning and startup efforts.

Qualifications

• Must have a BSE in Mechanical Engineering.
• Drafting experience with 2D/3D CAD.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and use of multimeter.

Responsibilities

• Size and recommend water treatment equipment using calculation programs and engineering methods (boilers, cooling systems, softeners, dealkalizers, filters, RO).
• Prepare written equipment proposals for field personnel using Word and Excel.
• Troubleshoot water treatment equipment on-site or remotely.
• Prepare technical instructions for equipment related to water treatment.
• Draft scaled mechanical drawings of equipment using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Train employees, field personnel, and customers on equipment and skills.
• Program Allen-Bradley PLCs using Rockwell software.
• Complete special design projects as assigned by Equipment Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

• Effectively size and recommend water treatment equipment for applications using calculation programs and engineering methods. Examples of water treatment equipment include boiler and cooling chemical feed systems, softeners, dealkalizers, condensate polishers, filtration, and reverse osmosis.
• Prepare written equipment proposals for field personnel using Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Troubleshoot water treatment equipment locally (on-site) or remotely (phone, e-mail, voicemail, etc.).
• Prepare written technical instructions for equipment as it relates to water treatment.
• Draft scaled mechanical working drawings of water treatment equipment and systems using AUTOCAD and SolidWorks.
• Train employees, field personnel, and customers in the equipment, tools, work techniques and skills required to accomplish assignments.
• Program Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) using Rockwell Automation Software.
• Complete special design projects set forth by Equipment Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

TECHNICAL

• Must have a BSE degree with a specialization in Mechanical.
• AnyWater Treatment experience is a plus, but not required.
• Must be knowlegeable in drafting methods and be proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software programs.
• Proficient use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must have a general knowledge of electrical systems and how to use a multimeter.
• Ability to use and program analytical and control equipment in the field.
• Must know how to use hand and power tools.
• Proficient use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL

• Must have physical strength and ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry such a weight for 100 feet.
• Must have good visual ability for close-up observations and use of analytical and controlequipment.
• Must have good depth perception and ability to distinguish different colors.
• Must have hearing sufficient to hear verbal and audible signals at a moderate distance.
• Must be conditioned to sustain work in 115 oF mechanical rooms.
• Must be able to travel periodic 25-35% of the time throughout the year.
• Must reside near Macon, GA - this position does not qualify for relocation assistance.

OTHER

• Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Must have reading ability sufficient to read technical manuals, mechanical and electricaldrawings, trade magazines, codes, and other technical materials.
• Must have writing ability sufficient to write correspondence, proposals, technical literature, and instructions.
• Must have good communication skills to deal with the public and to work cooperatively with sales force and other company employees.
• Employees are required upon hire to pass a physical and drug test.
