Job summary

Aramark Healthcare+ is seeking a Chef Manager to support culinary operations at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. Reporting to the General Manager, the Chef Manager will provide hands-on leadership for the culinary team while supporting daily food production, quality, safety, and service.

This role focuses on team development, client relationships, financial performance, and the execution of Aramark programs and standards.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in a related position.
  • Culinary degree preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession.
  • Experience managing people and/or problems.
  • Strong oral, reading and written communication skills.

Job Description

Aramark Healthcare+ is seeking a Chef Manager to support culinary operations at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Chef Manager will provide hands‑on leadership for the culinary team while supporting daily food production, quality, safety, and service. This role will also help drive team development, client relationships, financial performance, and the successful execution of Aramark programs and standards.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing the culinary team
  • Overseeing daily food production, quality, and presentation
  • Maintaining food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards
  • Supporting strong customer service and client relationships
  • Managing food and labor costs to meet budget expectations
  • Supporting menu execution, inventory, ordering, and operational needs
  • Ensuring Aramark programs, policies, and standards are consistently followed

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
  • Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
  • Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Establish presentation technique and quality standards, and plan and price menus
  • Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
  • Oversee special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrates culinary techniques
