Job summary

African American Talent is seeking a dedicated team member for our Deli/Bakery department in Henderson, NV. You will help create an outstanding customer experience, assist the department manager, and ensure safe, clean, and engaging service areas.

Responsibilities include product knowledge, samples, promotions, precise preparation and portioning, inventory, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and answer questions.
• Offer product samples to customers to encourage discovery.
• Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials and promotions.
• Provide fresh products that meet ordered quantities and maintain accurate portioning.
• Measure, mix and prepare ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates to prevent shrink.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout to locate products on request.
• Stay current with ads and seasonal promotions.
• Monitor inventory and note discrepancies.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
• Record temperature logs and maintain safety procedures.
• Report safety risks or issues to management.
• Support maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs.

Job description

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist department manager in achieving sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Work closely with the Deli/Baker Merchandising team, as well as the Deli/Bakery department to create an environment that is engaging to customers. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
• Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using variety of kitchen utensils and equipment
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
• Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products when requested by customer
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory

• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud to store management
