Job summary

Glanbia Nutritionals, Inc. is seeking a sanitation supervisor to manage the total operation of sanitation shifts, ensuring adherence to the sanitation schedule and completion of periodic equipment and infrastructural cleaning in a cheese plant.

You will liaise with the quality team to provide verification and validation on product contact surfaces, assist maintenance with CIP and tank work, and monitor CIP performance to prevent leaks and cross-contamination.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.

  • Complies with SQF, HACCP, and related food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the total operation of the sanitation shifts.
  • Ensures adherence to sanitation schedule.
  • Ensures completion of periodic equipment and infrastructural cleaning.
  • Liaison with chemical vendor to validate sanitation circuits.
  • Responsible for completed chemical checks and recording in the computer.
  • Insuring all MES logs are complete for sanitation team.
  • Coordinate with Quality to provide verification & validation on product contact surfaces prior to starting operations.
  • Understands the use and importance of PPE.
  • Working knowledge of each chemical used in cheese plant including how to use and when to use.
  • Working knowledge of all CIP circuits and what is washed by each circuit.
  • Ability to make repairs to the CIP system.
  • Assists maintenance team with day tank repairs (dosing pumps, flow transmitters).
  • Monitors CIP to ensure proper operation.
  • Able to perform Titration testing on all chemicals used in Cheese plant cleaning activities as determined by chemical supplier.
  • Able to perform Titration testing on foot foamers.
  • Ability to disassemble tank vents and clean with acid.
  • Cleans around CIP tank manhole openings, the inside of the door and door gasket.
  • Cleans outside of tanks and platform and inspects for leaks.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the total operation of the sanitation shifts. Supported by Shift Production Manager
  • Ensures adherence to sanitation schedule.
  • Ensures completion of periodic equipment and infrastructural cleaning.
  • Liaison with chemical vendor to assure scheduled sanitation circuits are validated
  • Responsible for completed chemical checks and ensuring that the information is recorded in the computer.
  • Insuring all MES logs are complete for sanitation team
  • Coordinate with Quality to provide verification & validation on product contact surfaces prior to starting operations
  • Understands the use and importance of PPE.
  • Working knowledge of each chemical used in the cheese plant including how to use and when to use.
  • Working knowledge of all CIP circuits and what is washed by each circuit.
  • Ability to make repairs to the CIP system.

  • Identifies soiled CIP tanks and performs a tank dump.
  • Ability to CIP the CIP supply tanks.
  • Can locate check balls/check valves and perform maintenance on them.
  • Identifies leaks and/or losses and begins corrective actions.
  • Respirator training and certification.
  • Working knowledge of all sanitation cleaning tasks.
  • Understands the importance of SQF, HACCP, FMEA and how they affect plant sanitation.
  • Collaborate with Cheese Sanitation Team Leader and Cheese Department to help develop training materials.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates. (Food Safety Modernization Act- FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)

Physical Demands
  • Regularly involves talking or listening, standing and walking, and the use of hands and fingers.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
Typical Environmental Conditions
  • May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat, and areas with possible air contamination, fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.
Travel Requirements
  • Minimal travel limited within the local area.
