$13.25 to $23.50, depending on experience

Tasks of Position

The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner that upholds the integrity and honesty of the company.

• Report for assigned shifts on time, communicate clearly, and demonstrate suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties.
• Promote sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information.
• Scan items to record price, or enter prices and departments for non‑scannable items, subtotal taxable items, and total purchases using the register system.
• Tender cash, personal checks, WIC checks, traveler’s checks, Canadian currency, vouchers, charges, and credit, debit, or EBT card payments for guests’ purchases.
• Count back guests’ change for all cash transactions.
• Count and verify money in the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each work shift.
• Understand and use “This One’s On Us” cards when the opportunity arises.
• Record daily transaction amounts from the cash register to balance the cash drawer.
• Weigh items, bag merchandise, and redeem promotional coupons.
• Cash checks, as directed under store policy.
• Maintain the work area and replenish inventory of necessary supplies.
• Manage multiple tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Mentor new associates or associates new to the department or task and assure a positive learning environment. Act as a team leader at the checkout stand and assure carry‑out service.
• Participate actively in the store’s accident reduction plan, including monitoring slip/trip hazards, cleaning or assigning cleanup of spills immediately, and recognizing safety features of all machinery, personal protective equipment, store evacuation plan, and robbery policy.

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations

Most positions within Yoke’s require physical effort to varying degrees. Associates are expected to practice Yoke’s safety standards at all times, including use of personal protective equipment when required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency protocols. All associates must report accidents within 24 hours.
