Our expanding K-4 Charter School is located in Mulberry, Florida. Our school will serve approximately 200 children, our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Reading Intervention Teacher is responsible forteaching studentswho have been identifiedasstruggling readers. Teaching Reading includes being awareofthe FloridaStateStandardsasper thegradelevelof the studentbeing taught. Italsoincludesawareness of theAcademy’s adopted curriculumfor reference; however,asuccessfulReading InterventionTeacher will be ableto developand adapther/hisowncurriculum basedonthe individual needs ofthestudents,empiricaldata, and professionalexperience. TheReading Intervention Teachersharesresponsibility for theacademic success of students.

The Reading Intervention Teacher is responsible for implementinganeffective reading intervention programwithidentifiedbelow-grade-level students. This canbeaccomplished as follows:
Furthermore,it isexpectedthat the Reading InterventionTeacher willbe ableto workinateam with the restofthe teachersinorderto integrate the curriculum.Familiarity with theacademy’sreadingcurriculum and supportprograms,includingsoftware-based programs, isexpected. A successfulReading Intervention Teacher will beabletoworkwithstudents ofdiversebackgroundsbyaddressingtheir language development needsand cultural assetsandbarrierstolearning.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Toperform this jobsuccessfully, anindividual must beable to performduties satisfactorily while exercisingindependent judgment,initiative,and creativity in order to implement all job duties. Individuals must meet age, medical, moral character, andanyother requirements as defined by Florida Statutes. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience workingwitheconomicallydisadvantagedstudents. Possess a ReadingEndorsementon a FloridaTeaching Certificate, or be willing to work towards obtaining this Endorsement within 3 months of employment.
