Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Charles River Development (CRD) Application Developer to support and enhance Charles River-driven workflows across Portfolio Engineering, Portfolio Optimization, Compliance & Guidelines, Trade Implementation, Trading, and Trade Operations.
In this role, you will partner closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Portfolio Engineering teams, Operations, and Technology stakeholders to deliver CRD enhancements, API integrations, portfolio optimization workflows, and automation solutions. This position requires strong technical expertise, investment management industry knowledge, and hands‑on experience with Charles River Development (CRD).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of CRD enhancements, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Configure and maintain Manager Workbench and Central Workbench layouts, workflows, rules, and result sets.
- Ensure Start‑of‑Day readiness and ongoing operational stability of the CRD platform.
- Support CRD batch automation processes, monitoring, exception handling, and issue resolution.
API Development & Integrations
- Design, develop, and support integrations using the Charles River API Framework.
- Develop Frontend API solutions to support user workflows, triggers, and CRD interaction points.
- Develop Backend API solutions for order submission, guideline checks, reference data management, and trading workflows.
- Build and support REST API integrations, services, and messaging‑based solutions.
- Troubleshoot and optimize application and integration performance.
- Collaborate with Portfolio Engineering teams to support portfolio optimization workflows that integrate with CRD.
- Apply knowledge of risk models, portfolio constraints, exposures, transaction cost analysis, and optimization techniques.
- Support and integrate optimization platforms such as Axioma and OMEGA Point.
Business Analysis & Documentation
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Create user stories, workflow diagrams, process maps, and interface documentation.
- Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of application development experience.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex query design and performance tuning.
- Experience working with Java or C# applications and integrations.
- Experience developing, testing, and troubleshooting REST APIs.
- 5+ years of Python programming experience.
- 5+ years of experience within the investment management or wealth management industry.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of Charles River Development (CRD) implementation and customization experience.
- Hands‑on experience configuring Manager Workbench and/or Central Workbench.
- Strong knowledge of the Charles River API Framework, including frontend and backend APIs.
- Experience with CRD batch automation, monitoring, and operational support.
- Understanding of portfolio optimization concepts, including risk factors, constraints, and optimization models.
- Experience with Axioma, OMEGA Point, or similar optimization platforms.
- Knowledge of order management workflows and trading processes across equities and fixed income markets.
