Job summary

Opelousas General Health System is seeking a Charg e RN for the Nursery in Opelousas, LA. This full-time role provides direct nursing care across infant to geriatric patients using the nursing process and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.

Requirements include an ADN (RN) with Louisiana licensure, CPR, and a minimum of two years in a NICU/ Nursery specialty. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; PALS/ACLS and NRP are beneficial.

Qualifications

• ADN required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficient in nursing process and patient education.
• CPR required; PALS/ACLS preferred.
• Two years RN experience in area of specialty required.
• Licensed RN in Louisiana is required.

Responsibilities

Charge RN - Nursery

Regular Full-Time Registered Nurse Opelousas, LA, US

Full time position for Charge RN in the Nursery. Sign on Bonus for full time positions! Under direction, provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process, performs technical nursing functions and upholds the standard of practice of a professional nurse in caring for infant through geriatric patients. Responsible for managing all aspects of nursing responsibilities during each shift. Delegates assignments and provides supervision for the support staff in accordance with their level of training and patient’s acuity. Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to ensure the quality of patient care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
• Provides direct patient care.
• Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills.
• Documents and maintains date on patient’s record.
• Maintains a safe environment.
• Applies basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education.
• Provides for life support.
• Acts as a patient advocate.

• Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Identifies issues or emergent matters and responds in a calm and effective manner.

Education: Associate of Nursing Program is required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

License & Certifications:Louisiana BoardRegistered Nurse license required. CPR required. PALS and ACLS preferred.

Additional Experience Preferred

• NRP certification REQUIRED.
• Current knowledge of clinical practice.
• Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for neonate patients.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
• Two years of RN experience in area of specialty is required.
