Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Primary Charge Nurse in Rockford, IL to oversee unit operations, ensure smooth patient flow, and model exceptional care standards. You will assign daily tasks, guide the care team, and resolve operational challenges within the shift.

Requirements include BSN (or obtain within 3 years), 2 years on a similar unit, and active RN licensure in IL or MI. BLS/ACLS/PALS or unit-specific certs are expected.

Qualifications

• BSN or must be obtained within 3 years of date of hire into role.
• 2 years of experience on the unit or similar unit.
• Current RN licensure by the State Board of Nursing (Illinois or Michigan).
• BLS and ACLS, PALS, or other certification as required by unit.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the unit workflow to meet patient and care team needs.
• Assist in prioritizing daily work assignments and resource management.
• Serve as a resource for nursing staff to resolve operational and patient care issues.
• Provide care at the highest level of licensure following best practice standards.
