Job description/Responsibilities: FULL-TIME: 40 HOURS PER WEEKSHIFTAPPROXIMATE PAY RANGE$80.68 - $99.23 **Job SummaryThe Charge Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing activities and staffs function during their shift. Responsible for the coordination of activities on the nursing unit/area during a shift.The Charge Nurse will provide direct communication with the Nurse Manager and is a resource for patient, families, nursing staff, physicians and other departments. Effectively utilizes nursing personnel, time and equipment on the unit and assists the department Manager in the daily operation of the unit.Perform direct patient care, within scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care. *Duties1. Ability to assess and reassess pain on admission after giving pain medication and on discharge or transfer of patient and proper documentation on the patient record.2. Coordinates and oversees the implementation of patient care for the specific shift.3. Evaluates and prioritizes the effectiveness of care given by the health care team members based on standards of care on the specific nursing unit.4. Assists the staff when needed, to perform selected skills correctly and in a timely manner. Acts as a resource person and role model in the clinical area.5. Monitors the compliance of all team members to standards of care and hospital policies and procedures. Participates in the peer review process, bio ethics meetings, multi discipline meetings as needed.6. Coordinates shift assignments and staffing requirements for next shift.7. Provides information relevant to staff performance for annual appraisals and orientation.8. Assists staff in recognizing important legal issues including confidentiality and risk management.9. Acts as a resource for technical skills. Supervises and directs personnel as appropriate according to policies and procedures.10. Acts as a role model for others in relationships with physicians, staff and other departments.

Required Qualification: *License/Certification1. Current valid CA Registered Nurse License.2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.3. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.4. National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.5. Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification preferred.7. Proper training in Cardiovascular Lab and one year previous experience in ICU/CCU or Emergency CCRN.8. Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology experience preferred. *Proof of all license and certification is required at time of hire.**EducationNursing Graduate**Required educational levels call for proof at time of hire.ExperienceOne to two years experience in an acute care setting within the last three years preferred.
