Job Title: Charge Registered Nurse I

Base Rate: $46.07- $67.73

12 hr. shifts- paid overtime after 8 hours, resulting in an average rate of $53.75 - $79.0

Job Summary: The Charge RN with clinical and management expertise is responsible for leading and overseeing nursing care on an assigned unit. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Supports staff development and performance improvement initiatives and assists with organizational compliance and quality assurance efforts. Serves as a role model, actively and consistently contributing to department operations and communications, behaving in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team to plan patient care, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and delegates unit workflow.
  • Assists staff with applying evidence-based knowledge to patient care decisions and evaluating practice to create strategies for improvement.
  • Manages unit crises by coordinating and implementing solutions.
  • Participates in the new hire interview and orientation process.
  • Participates in the staff evaluation process by providing feedback on staff performance.

  • Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
  • Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
  • Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
  • Utilizes SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) when communicating with oncoming shift, physician communication and giving report to ancillary or other nursing services.
  • Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
  • Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
  • May float to other areas of the hospital as needed.
