Location: Portland, Oregon

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Evening Shift - Four 10-Hour Shifts

Position Summary

The Charge Radiologic Technologist provides shift leadership and performs diagnostic imaging examinations in accordance with physician orders and established clinical standards. This role coordinates exam workflow, supports staff training, addresses equipment and safety concerns, and collaborates with multiple departments to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care.

The technologist uses clinical knowledge and sound judgment to accommodate each patient’s individual and age-related needs while operating a variety of advanced imaging equipment. The position is responsible for proper positioning, technique selection, radiation dose optimization, and producing high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the shift charge technologist and coordinate daily exam workflow and department activities.
  • Assign and prioritize examinations to support efficient patient flow and timely care.
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Operate a variety of sophisticated imaging equipment safely and effectively.
  • Apply clinical knowledge and judgment to determine appropriate positioning, technical factors, and imaging techniques.
  • Adjust procedures based on patients’ individual needs, condition, age, and ability to cooperate.
  • Optimize radiation exposure using ALARA principles while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
  • Monitor and address equipment, environmental, and patient safety concerns.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to technologists and other staff.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with nursing, physicians, and other departments within the facility.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable professional, regulatory, and departmental standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
Required Qualifications
  • Education sufficient to meet applicable certification, licensure, or registration requirements.
  • Oregon Radiographer License upon hire, or Oregon Radiographer Temporary License upon hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire.
New Graduates
  • New graduates must hold an OBMI temporary license upon hire.
  • Must obtain a permanent Oregon Radiographer license within 6 months of hire.
