UCHealth University of Colorado Health is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse for a 72-hour per pay period, full-time shift on our Cardiac and Proc Short Stay unit in Aurora, CO. This onsite role focuses on leading a 16-bed unit with post-procedure cardiac and med-surg patients, ensuring staffing and patient safety across day shifts.
Responsibilities include supervising staff, delivering direct patient care when needed, coordinating admissions and transfers, and maintaining equipment and supplies
6+ months of recent charge/relief charge RN experience strongly preferred. 2 + years of inpatient, med/surg and cardiac telemetry experience strongly preferred.
Summary:16 bed unit comprised of both cardiac procedural step down and med surge level of care patients. Focusing primarily on post procedure patients staying overnight form cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, bronchoscopy and GI. Additionally, we recover cardiac post procedure patients from sedation and anesthesia as well as admit patients for initiation of anti-dysrhythmia medication.
Provides direct patient care at a proficient level, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors the patient to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Summary:
Provides nursing leadership for a specific shift and unit/area.
Responsibilities:
Supervises and mentors staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, and patient acuity.
Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care, including formal evaluation, and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program. Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program within three years of assuming the Charge RN position.
State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
1 year of nursing experience.
