Job summary

St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, CA is seeking a Charge Nurse for full-time AM shift (0700-1900) 0.9 FTE.

The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for nursing activities and coordinates the unit, guiding staff and interfacing with the Nurse Manager to ensure quality patient care and efficient operation. The role requires a CA RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least two years of RN experience; BSN preferred and CCRN/CCU preferred.

Qualifications

• Current CA Registered Nurse license required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• BSN preferred.
• CCRN/CCU Certification preferred
• Minimum two years recent clinical RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess pain on admission after analgesia and on discharge or transfer; document in patient record.
• Coordinate and oversee implementation of patient care for the shift.
• Evaluate and prioritize care effectiveness based on standards of care for the unit.
• Assist staff to perform selected skills correctly and timely; act as resource and role model.
• Demonstrate competence in care of pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients as assigned.
• Monitor compliance to standards and hospital policies; participate in peer review.
• Assist in selecting new staff.
• Coordinate shift assignments and staffing for next shift.
• Provide information relevant to staff performance for annual appraisals and orientation.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education

Nursing degree (ADN/ASN) or higher

BSN preferred

NIHSS certification

BLS certification

ACLS certification

CCRN/CCU certification preferred

RN experience 2+ years
